High School Rowing

High School Rowing Programs

The Viking Rowing Club also offers youth rowing to high school aged rowers.  These programs run during the off seasons in the summer and fall and aim to help rowers improve their technique, strength and skill.

In 2024, a summer high school program will run Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings for five weeks, starting Monday June 24 and ending Friday July 26. The sessions will start at 7am and finish at 9am. There will be no session on Friday July 5 for the holiday. The program is for  boys and girls with at least one year of high school rowing experience. It will be coached by Joe McGuire, boys’ head rowing coach at Stockton University and Chris O’Brien, girls’ head rowing coach also at Stockton University. Several local high school coaches will also be involved. The cost for the program is $400. Payment can be made to the Viking Rowing Foundation. For more information or to sign up, contact John Kelley at 609-992-5606 or ehtboysrowing@gmail.com

Mainland Rowing is dedicated to teaching high school students the sport of rowing.  Our program is a competitive varsity sport at Mainland Regional High School.   We race against boats from local and regional high schools in regattas that culminate at state and national events.  We have experienced coaches who run programs during spring, winter and fall seasons.  Our team rows out  of the Dr. John Holland Boathouse in Ventnor City, NJ.

Colleges and Universities recognize the Holy Spirit name. If you want to attend to any college with a crew program, they know Holy Spirit. They know they are getting a top notch student athlete.  If you compare our crew athletes with any other sport, you will find our boys have a better chance of getting into the schools they want and receive significantly more in scholarships and financial aid.  All sports are very competitive, but if you are looking for a sports program at Holy Spirit that offers you the best competitive edge in standing out amongst your peers, Holy Spirit Boys Crew will do that for you.
